AmandelbultMy hobby list includes bird watching. I took this up about a year ago and have almost reached the 200 sightings mark (Southern Africa has just over 950 bird species for the viewing).

Martin and Hannelie are friends of ours that’s been in the bird watching game for several years now. With every bird you tick off on your little list, it becomes more difficult to tick one more off, and they have to drive to the weirdest places to see the weirdest of birds. » Read more: Finding the Famous Grouse

The town’s name means ‘pass of the hartbees’, (a species of antelope) in Afrikaans. » Read more: Mom’s Birthday Weekend

Botanical gardens normally house an interesting bird or two. I arrived here with binoculars, water bottle and over sized nougat bar. As I entered the gates I noticed this afro-haired Rasta guy with his large earphones dancing on his iPod all over the place. As this might seem ‘normal’ in most big cities, I just walked over to the big board with a map of the place so we could plan our day. » Read more: Botanical Gardens

BMW Destination InnovationBMW Leo Haese Centurion invited Werner and me to come and experience some of their technology and innovation at this magic site in the Cradle of Human Kind.

About the event one can only deduct one thing: they wanted to impress! We were about 30 people, and on arrival this morning at this world heritage site hub, we were greeted by a polished fleet of BMW machines that were clearly out of the everyday man’s league. » Read more: BMW Destination Innovation
